What’s In Your Cleaning Caddy?

The first time I heard about or saw someone posting about a cleaning caddy on social media, I thought to myself that is the simplest idea that is pure genius.
.
If you have not implemented a cleaning caddy into your cleaning routine, I highly recommend it. It makes cleaning my house so much easier. Now I know what you’re probably thinking: “Why would something so simple save that much time?”
A cleaning caddy eliminates the need to constantly search for supplies or make multiple trips back and forth to your cleaning closet.
How many times have you walked into the room, going, “Ugh, I forgot to grab___. “
A cleaning caddy keeps everything you need within arm's reach, allowing you to focus on the task at hand rather than doing laps around your house. It also allows you to easily pick up the caddy and move from room to room rather than juggling everything in your arms.
Whether you're doing a quick tidy-up or a deep clean, a well-stocked caddy helps you always be prepared (well, at least mostly prepared).
Types of Cleaning Caddy
Now, the type of cleaning caddy you should have should work best for you, as well as the layout of your house and the items you hope to keep in your caddy.
While I love the idea of a utility cart, like this one from Amazon, this one from Walmart, or this one from Ikea, it doesn't necessarily work for my home and the season of life I’m currently in.
Since the utility cart will always be on the floor, it makes the cleaning products too accessible for my 3-year-old and 1-year-old boys, and I’d prefer not to have to childproof the door into our linen closet or laundry room.
I also have a completely carpeted upstairs, which, as you load up the caddy, won’t be heavy, but items with wheels can sometimes be a pain to maneuver.
So what works best for me are caddy tote bags and containers, like this one from Walmart or this one from Amazon. I actually ended up repurposing our old diaper caddy into my cleaning caddy, which has worked well and saved me a few dollars by using something I already owned and no longer needed.
What to Keep in Your Cleaning Caddy?
What you keep in your cleaning caddy will be up to you based on the products you prefer and items that may require a more specialized cleaning solution. However, these are generally the products I keep in my cleaning caddy.
All-Purpose Cleaner: An all-purpose cleaner is a must-have for tackling various surfaces, from countertops to bathroom fixtures. Choose a versatile, effective cleaner that works on multiple surfaces to save space and simplify your routine.
Glass Cleaner: Keep a bottle of glass cleaner for streak-free windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces. This will make sure that you have sparkling clear surfaces without smudges or residue.
Disinfectant Spray or Wipes: Disinfectant spray or wipes are essential for killing germs and bacteria, especially in high-touch areas like door handles and light switches.
Microfiber Cloths: Microfiber cloths are perfect for dusting and wiping down surfaces. They’re reusable, washable, and highly effective at trapping dust and dirt.
Scrub Brush: A good scrub brush is handy for tackling tough grime in areas like sinks, tubs, and tile grout. Choose one with a comfortable handle and durable bristles.
Rubber Gloves: Protect your hands from harsh chemicals and hot water with a pair of durable rubber gloves. They’re also useful for preventing skin irritation during extended cleaning sessions.
Dusting Mitt or Cloth: A dusting mitt or cloth makes it easy to dust surfaces without spreading dust around. Look for one that’s washable and reusable.
Trash Bags: Having a few extra trash bags in your caddy ensures you can quickly dispose of waste without having to hunt for a bag.
Having a well-stocked cleaning caddy is a game-changer for anyone looking to simplify and expedite their cleaning routine. A cleaning caddy not only saves you time but also reduces the hassle of searching for products, making cleaning your home a breeze. Make sure to equip yourself with the essentials, and you’ll be ready to tackle any cleaning task your home throws your way.
Happy cleaning!
